Broken Time Gene Haunts Rehm Home

There are no sugar plum fairies dancing through any body's head in our house right now. It's 1 AM on a Wednesday (well I guess now it's Thursday morning) and all that's dancing around here are children.

Of course we're off schedule. It's Christmas break and there's no school! It seems their natural time to be awake is in the middle of the night, and their natural time to be sleepy is during the day. Unfortunately, same holds true for their father.

So when mommy and daddy buy lots of movies, candy, chips, and all of the good stuff to eat, lock ourselves in our room to work for three days straight and tell them to take care of themselves, well, you get the picture.

The house actually is surprisingly clean. Sara did an excellent job using the aforementioned bribes to get real work out of the kids. Seeing as they never actually get things like candy and chips, they make good incentives when they actually show up in the house. The housekeeper came today and did the deep cleaning too. So the kids are happy, the house is clean, and we have three full days of work behind us.

In a last ditch attempt to get more income, we completely re-wrote the existing PerfectNotes software. Peter's been hard at work undoing all of his previous work and rewriting from scratch. We had some customer feedback, and I got to the user interface. All in all, it's a whole new product that is hopefully much easier to use.

We've been trying to get a new web site (update of the old one actually), new software, new help file, new advertising campaign, and new press release done all at the same time and up before Christmas. Fun part is, there's no money to hire any professionals. So I ended up writing the press release myself and worked on the web site and graphics. I miss the pros! Last time we did this we spent about $6000 on help. This time the budget is $0. Oh well, hope it works.

Peter integrated the new graphics and help file into the product and got a stable version completed. He put the new program up on the server. He's now putting up my new web site. After that we'll submit the press release for tomorrow's delivery. Then we'll cross our fingers, and pray.

So if you'd like to help us out:
If you're religious, pray for us.
If you're not religious (or if you want to anyway) tell people who might be interested about our program.

In a nut shell, it's note taking software that links your notes with an audio recording. Whenever you want to hear something again, just click the green bar next to your notes and it plays back for you instantly. It's great for foreign language learners, people who hate taking notes (just take a skeletal outline of the class and then go back and listen to whatever part you want), college and high school students, and adults returning back to school. It's kind of like having a safety net: you never miss anything. There's a free demo available at www.perfectnotes.com. And right now, it's only $29.95. We've actually had a lot of people buy it for their kids, nieces, nephews, etc. So if you know anyone who would be interested, please let them know about us.

I actually used it myself at a series of interviews for architects. I was drop dead exhausted (Lisa was a week old at the time) and couldn't really pay attention. I took notes using PerfectNotes. It was pretty cool actually. It was nice being able to go back and really compare what the different architects said. It's also nice to be able to play it back for other people. It's hard for someone to deny what they said when you have it recorded.

So anyway, days of endless work and sleepless nights later, I'm hopefully going to get this wrapped up in the next hour and go to bed.

Hope the kids will too!
