He's Back!

Yep, even though Peter was told there was a schedule in place, he still chose to come home. Yea!

He was actually liking it when the kids were in bed, house locked down and quiet, and it was only 9PM. We got to bed a little late (11:30) but we both had naps so it was ok. Up at 6:45 for me to do my kids hair for crazy hair day.

Now he's enjoying working in a quiet home while he's awake. So far, so good. We'll see if we can get through a whole day. He's still kind of baffled that the kids are going around saying "we must stay on schedule! Hurry!" Unusual words for our home, indeed.

He had another surprise waiting for him when he got back. Megan's hair had finally grown out to the required 10" for Locks of Love, and she was tired of me picking through her rats nest. So she decided it was time. I put her hair in a pony tail, chopped it off, and she was adorable! It naturally went into an A-frame bob. It was longer in front, so it still looked like she had hair, but it's much more manageable.

Sara saw how cute Megan looked, and decided it was time for her too. She cut off almost 12" and still had shoulder length hair. She went nuts though last time I trimmed her hair and took off almost an 1 1/2" of scraggly ends. So I was nervous about what would happen if I took off a foot.

So before I cut, I measured, measured again, measured again, held the scissors, said, "Are you ready? Are you sure? You're not going to hold this against me right? When you're older and in therapy because your mom cut off your hair, you can't blame me because this is your decision. Are you sure? Are you really sure? OK! Here's your hair."

AHHHHHH! I heard about it all night! Her hair decided it was curly. Not just wavy; ringlet curly. It's absolutely georgeous. But no. "I look a little girl! I look like Shirley Temple! Megan looks older than me! This isn't fair!" She didn't shut up until I promised to straighten her hair for her the next day before church. That worked.

Today was crazy hair day though. So Megan went to school sporting a high fashion fluffled up ratted mess (Einstein's daughter, she called it), Sara was Shirley Temple, Jeffrey's hair was spiked everywhere, and Julia's head was filled with pony tails. They love crazy hair day. It took me an hour to get them all ready though!

So now the question is: how long will the Rehm's last on a routine. Bets anyone?

  1. Just remember what it is like not being on a schedule and how wonderful it is being on one and you will keep it going!
