There is one benefit to sick kids--skipping church!
After the runny noses, waking up all night, coughing, and misery, at least you get to stay home, relax in an "almost" quiet house (which around here is rare) and take a nap. Well, OK, it was a short nap, and I only slept because I sat down on my couch and fell asleep, so it wasn't really comfortable. And then my neck hurt and I got cold and I woke up long before I wanted to. But hey, a nap is a nap. I'll take it.
I also got a little reading done while I ate my lunch in near peace. The baby decided to be happy for a few minutes, which was a nice break. She's been crying for the last 15 minutes off and on. I tried food, holding her, toys, checked her diaper, and so on. Right now she's in her crib "wrestling" with her blankies while I write this. Maybe she'll fall asleep and take a nap. That would be great! Then I could try that nap for real! Except the kids will be home in half an hour. Oh well. Maybe a 5 minute nap will work.
Yea! She's quiet! I'm going to go finish that nap.
Update: I slept for an hour! It felt great! The kids didn't even wake me up.
