After several attempts, I finally got my bushes pruned. They should have been done this Spring. Yep, I'm that far behind on my yardwork. My yard is horrible this year. Last year it looked so nice. I had put in sod, we had the new front walk, I built some raised flower beds and filled them with petunias.
This year, the weeds are taking over the front lawn, you can't tell the raised beds were even there, there are no flowers, and milkweek is growing everywhere. The bushes were all unpruned making the yard look well, white trash.
My lawn mower broke. It's my favorite lawn mower. Power drive, mulching, starts with a single pull. It's great. But then Peter did me a favor and mowed the lawn for me while I was pregnant, and somehow managed to break both back wheels. I haven't had the time or money to replace them, so my lawnmower sits broken in my garage.
Our home teacher has been kind enough to wander over and mow our lawn every once in awhile, which has been a huge help. It's just one more thing I can't do right now.
The other day, I was so frustrated by not being able to get out, I took the baby outside and laid her on the lawn on a blankie. That distracted her enough that I got the two ball bushes and the two rose bushes pruned. Tonight she was sleeping relatively soundely, so I told Peter to text me when she woke up and I ran outside and pruned the two bigger bushes. Unfortunately, it got dark before I could finish, so I still have a few stragglers and clean up to do. Maybe in a week or two I'll get to it! But in the mean time, it's progress.
