I love Jackson Wyoming. Not many other good things happen in Wyoming, but Jackson is one of them.
I have a good friend that calls me a spoiled princess. So what? Just because I like nice things? Ok, I'll take the label.
My love of Jackson started many years ago. We were driving an old white mini van that we had bought from my aunt and uncle. We were driving down a hill in Yelloswtone when the car refused to work. The gas pedal didn't work. We had to park and get it towed to the nearest service station. Fortunately we weren't too far away from Fishing Bridge. They checked it out, said the fuel pump died, they can't fix it, and arranged towing to Flagg Ranch, just outside of the park.
There another tow company came and got us and took us into Jackson. My Dad was awesome paying for the towing, the parts, and a hotel for a couple nights until we could get it fixed. He drove us in his huge van around Jackson trying to find the right place for us to stay.
He came across a hotel called the Virginian. Since he loved the book he stopped there. They had these great rooms with three beds. We spent the night there and loved it! It had a huge grassy area for the kids, a huge pool, and a giant hot tub. We were sold. While there we explored and found many things we liked: a grassy park with antler arches at the entrances, a wild west wagon ride, a bakery with fantastic baked goods, and so on.
I actually love the Tetons, and can't spend enough time there. The Yellowstone trip rarely had enough time in it to spend any real time there, so we started leaving for Yellowstone on Monday instead of Wednesday, staying in Jackson, playing in the Tetons, and heading up in to Yellowstone on Wednesday. It's become my favorite part of the trip.
This year we had the money to camp for two nights or to get one of our original three bed hotel rooms for one night. After our previous camping experience we opted for one night in a hotel. I'm glad we did! More details in the next post.
