I'm exhausted. If this post doesn't make any sense, it's because my head is addled by the sun. Is addled a word? I don't know. Think scrambled eggs and you got it.
The day started with two girls (Mandy age 6 and Stephanie age 4) dressed up as princesses headed to Lehi. There was a princess festival held at Thanksgiving Point and I got free tickets. Which was good, as I would never actually spend $30 a ticket to get in.
The girls had so much fun running around with the hundred other princesses, getting their autograph signed by the likes of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White, listening about how being a princess is about what's inside rather than out, and watching plays, that they had no intention of leaving. Ever. Mommy got hungry. Mommy needed a break. Mommy's feet were killing her because she wore the cute sandals not the comfy ones. Mommy wanted to go home. But not the princesses!
Six hours later, we made it home. Whew.
Crash on bed, and find out I have to go to my mother-in-law's birthday party. I didn't really want to go. I was exhausted and my feet were killing me. So I used Peter's hand-held massager to quickly try to help my aching feet legs and back, and then we were off again!
It was supposed to be an outdoor play in the sun and water party. But it was cold and the wind was blowing. It took about an hour to get the grill hot enough to cook on. The kids decided to brave the cold and "swim". But after they jumped in (up to their ankles in a kiddie pool), they immediately jumped out. Jeffrey got whacked in the head by an umbrella pole as the wind blew it around, and the kids got so cold then ended up borrowing sweatshirts.
But then the food was done and that's a whole different story! The wind died down, the sunset was beautiful, and best of all, there was food! There were hamburgers and hot dogs, fruit and vegetables, and something my kids didn't know what to do with: Jell-O! After they got stuffed they were running around, emptying the pool (i.e. having a water fight) and having a great time. We didn't make it home until 10 PM. All in all, I spent 10 hours outside today, got absolutely nothing done, and now I have a mild sunburn to show for it. At least the kids had fun and I had an awesome dinner.
Off to go crash in bed and try to figure out how to pull of a half birthday for a 13 and a half year old tomorrow!
