Happy Birthday Lisa

My baby is now officially two. I actually thought she was two a few months ago by the way she was acting, but now it's official. It was a crazy day, because for some reason I have it in my head that she was born on the 7th when she was actually born on the 6th. So yea, I thought I had another day to prepare until yesterday.

[Funny story: I went to order her birth certificate. I had to admit to the lady that I didn't know my baby's birth date. I told her it was the 6th or 7th of June. She just laughed. We joked about sleep deprivation and  memory loss that accompanies each successive child, and so on. But now I have a permanent reminder that she was born on 6/6/09. Should be easy enough to remember.]


So I went shopping, bought her presents  (clothes), made her dinner (anything that gives me an excuse to serve lots of tomatoes, her favorite food), and made her cake. Turns out she doesn't like cake. She likes fruit. So I made her a fruit tart:

I was pretty happy at how it turned out so I had to show it off. The kids each got to make two smaller individual tarts as well. And yes, the baby "blew out" (with Jeffrey's help) her candles that were in a tart.

It's definitely the kind of thing you would find at a birthday party at the Rehm's home. Any excuse to eat fruit is good. Half the kids didn't even eat the pastry or cream. They just ate the fruit. Including the baby. She methodically shoved each piece in her mouth until they were gone. Then she picked up the tart, looked at it, licked the cream a few times, and threw it at me. I guess it's healthier that way!

She wasn't quite sure what to do with presents, but quickly figured it out. The funny part was she was having so much fun pulling tissue out of bags, when she got to her clothes she just kept going flinging them all over the floor. After things settled down, I introduced her to her new clothes again. She thought they were so cute she quickly tried to take off her shirt and wanted me to put a new one on her.

The kids were all so cute with her today too. Megan took her for a walk, she got to play outside, everyone was nice to her, and they were very excited to find toys they no longer needed so they could give them to her. One toy, Tweety, was given to Sara when she was about 2, and then she gave it to Jeffrey, who today gave it to Lisa. It's cute seeing that they actually care for each other. Of course, by the end of the night it was back to fighting as usual.
